During the last Migration Institute of Australia’s (MIA) National Conference the Hon. Alex Hawke outlined the new plan towards reopening of external borders.
Three-phase reopening plan
The plan consists of 3 phases that will enable fully vaccinated Australians to enter or leave the country with milder immigration rules concerning application and quarantine requirement. The first phase includes skilled migrants and students, the second one will allow close family member to travel, and the final phase will enable Australian citizens or residents to enter or exit the country for different purposes such as tourism.
Requirements for travelling
The new plan was crafted following the positive vaccination rates in Australia. Therefor, new regulations apply to citizens or residents who are fully vaccinated with an approved vaccine. The Australian Government has recently recognized two new vaccines – Coronavac and Covidshield – which add to the four previously approved.
