Who must submit the declaration of presence in Italy
Traveler’s assessment

In fact, there are three possible ways to submit the declaration of presence, depending on the above-mentioned criteria.
How to fill the declaration of presence form
Assistance with the form
Once assessed that the travelers must submit the declaration of presence in person, A&P will arrange an in-person meeting at the competent police office.
During the meeting, A&P consultant will assist the client to fill out the application form, which is composed of three sections:
- Section 1: traveler’s generalities
- Section 2: traveler’s ID document
- Section 3: details of the trip
As a result of the meeting, the traveler will receive the sealed declaration of presence document, that they must carry with them throughout their stay.
Why submitting the declaration of presence
Failure to comply
The declaration of presence can be regarded as a temporary residence permit for Italy. Its purpose is notifying the Italian authorities of the arrival of foreigners in the country.
Failure to comply with the declaration of presence requirement in Italy is punishable by a fine ranging from €5.000 to €10.000.
Furthermore, in case the declaration is submitted beyond eight days from entry or in case of overstay, the Italian immigration authorities may proceed to order expulsion from Italy.

Student of Italian branches of foreign universities and higher education institutions (University level) must submit the Declaration of Presence in case their stay is less than 150 days.
Do I need to declare my presence if I entered the Schengen area via Italy?
Foreigners who enter the Schengen area directly via Italy comply with the declaration fulfilment by passing the border police controls.
