Traveler’s assessment
During the consultation, our experts will advise whether you are required to submit the declaration of presence.
The criteria assessed during the consultation will include:
- Traveler’s nationality and country of arrival
- Duration and purpose of the travel
- The point of entry in the Schengen area
- The type of accommodation in Italy
In fact, there are three possible ways to submit the declaration of presence, depending on the above-mentioned criteria.
Assistance with the form
Once assessed that the travelers must submit the declaration of presence in person, A&P will arrange an in-person meeting at the competent police office.
During the meeting, A&P consultant will assist the client to fill out the application form, which is composed of three sections:
- Section 1: traveler’s generalities
- Section 2: traveler’s ID document
- Section 3: details of the trip
As a result of the meeting, the traveler will receive the sealed declaration of presence document, that they must carry with them throughout their stay.
Failure to comply
The declaration of presence can be regarded as a temporary residence permit for Italy. Its purpose is notifying the Italian authorities of the arrival of foreigners in the country.
Failure to comply with the declaration of presence requirement in Italy is punishable by a fine ranging from €5.000 to €10.000.
Furthermore, in case the declaration is submitted beyond eight days from entry or in case of overstay, the Italian immigration authorities may proceed to order expulsion from Italy.
