The new increase of the French minimum wage is already in force.

Following the French Décret n° 2022-1608 du 22 décembre 2022, the minimum wage has increased by 1.81% with immediate effect from January 1st, 2023. Also known as “SMIC“, the previous increase of the minimum wage in France traces back to August 2022.

The gross amount per month in France, working 35 hours per week, is now set to €1.709,28:

  • Net amount per month set to €1.353,07, resulting in
  • Hourly net amount of €8,92 (gross of €11,27).

A new SMIC revaluation enters into force each year on January. In 2022, the minimum wage in France was also revalued on May and August.

This increase also applies to employers posting workers to France, who must comply with the current salary alignment.
