A&P Procedure

  • Send us your request: we’ll organize a consultation video call
  • You’ll receive the list of documents and can send us your documents
  • We request your marriage certificate from the Italian municipality or the relevant foreign country
  • We translate and legalize the document where required
  • You can download a copy of the document remotely using the A&P software or have it delivered to your preferred address

Why requesting a marriage certificate?

During the consultation, our experts will assess whether you meet the requirements to obtain a marriage certificate in Italy.

In Italy, it is important that the marriage certificate be registered with the relevant Municipality. Italian citizens who marry abroad can register their marriage with the Municipality where they are registered in the AIRE register.

A marriage certificate can be useful for those who need to complete immigration procedures for themselves or their family members, register their residency, or apply for Italian citizenship.

Assistance choosing the certificate

Our consultants will assist you in choosing the certificate to request.

For example, in Italy there are three different types of documents: the marriage record, the marriage certificate, and the marriage extract.

Each of these documents contains slightly different or additional information. It is always best to request the correct type of document. Obtaining a different type may cause delays or problems with your immigration process.

Assistance with certificate legalization

Our consultants will guide you through the legalization process for your marriage certificate in Italy.

To be legally valid in a foreign country, a marriage certificate must first be legalized. Legalization must be done in the country that issued the certificate.

The legalization process may require certification from the diplomatic or consular representation abroad, except in cases where international conventions exempt from legalization apply.

Service delivery

We adhere to established processes and internal policies for service delivery.

  • We aim to provide initial feedback within 24 hours of receiving your request
  • You can send us your documents by conveniently uploading them remotely using the A&P management system

F.A.Q. about the service

The marriage act is a true copy of the original document held in the Civil Registry in Italy, which includes complete information about the two people involved in the marriage. It may include any annotations such as the name of the priest who officiated the marriage, the spouses’ residence, the adopted property regime, etc.
For immigration procedures, it is extremely important that the names on the certificate exactly match the names on my passport. If my surname changes following marriage, meaning the names do not match, additional documents must be provided (e.g., an affidavit or AKA notes on my passport).
Yes. Marriage certificates contain information that can change over time, therefore they are legally valid for six months from the date of issue.
