The Service Portal of the Italian Ministry of the Interior has introduced a new feature for the online management of residence contracts relating to certain categories of work-related entries outside the quotas set by the Flow Decree.

The update concerns, in particular, foreign workers entering Italy after attending professional and civic-linguistic training courses abroad, pursuant to Article 23 of Legislative Decree No. 286/1998, as well as highly qualified workers admitted through the EU Blue Card procedure, governed by Article 27-quater of the same decree.

Following the activation of the new function, residence contracts for BC and LFE application forms can also be signed digitally directly through the Immigration Desk section of the Service Portal. The option to use the foreign worker’s handwritten signature remains available in the cases provided for by applicable legislation.

After the worker’s arrival in Italy, the employer must enter the entry details in the reserved area of the Portal and subsequently sign and submit the documentation received by certified email (PEC).

This measure further simplifies the administrative management of work entry procedures, supporting the ongoing digitalisation of interactions between employers, foreign workers and the Public Administration.
