The minimum salary threshold required for EU Blue Card applications in Italy has been updated. The EU Blue Card is the residence permit for highly qualified non-EU workers who meet specific education, professional and employment requirements.
Based on the updated ISTAT reference value, the gross annual salary indicated in the employment contract proposal or binding job offer must now be at least approximately €36,300, increasing from the previous threshold of around €35,500. The salary must also comply with the minimum levels. These are set by the applicable National Collective Bargaining Agreement, taking into account the sector, job level and duties assigned to the worker.
Companies should also remember that the employment contract or binding job offer must have a minimum duration of six months.
Employers planning to hire highly qualified non-EU workers through the EU Blue Card procedure should carefully review the salary indicated in the supporting documents before submitting the application.
