Who can apply for the visa

Italy Digital Nomad Visa
It is intended for foreigners who will carry out self-employment activities using technological tools that enable remote work.
Remote Worker Visa
It is designated for foreigners who will perform subordinate work or collaboration activities.
In addition, in both cases, you will have to demonstrate:
- A minimum annual income not less than three times the minimum level
- A health insurance valid in Italy and a suitable accommodation
- Prior experience of at least six months in the sector
- Employment or collaboration contract or binding offer for the performance of highly qualified work
- Declaration of absence of criminal convictions signed by the employer or client
Timeline for visa issuance
The timeline for visa issuance depend on the work category (self-employment or subordinate employment) and they are defined by the Italian immigration law and by the standard processes applied by the relevant authorities.
- Step 1: DOCUMENTS COLLECTION AND CHECK (10-15 days)
- Step 2: ITALY DIGITAL NOMAD VISA OBTAINMENT (ca. 15 days or in any case up to 90 days for remote workers and 120 days for digital nomads)
- Step 3: RESIDENCE PERMIT APPLICATION (8 days)
In conclusion, the residence permit is issued for one year, renewable.

Is it necessary to apply for a visa even for stays of less than 90 days?
Yes. Even for stays of less than 90 days, an entry visa and a digital nomad residence permit will be required.
Can the residence permit be revoked once it has been issued?
Yes. For example, if checks reveal that the applicable tax and social security provisions have not been complied with, or if the employer or client has been convicted in the last 5 years for offences referred to in Article 22, paragraph 5-bis of the TUI.
Is family reunification permitted?
Yes. Holders of digital nomad or remote worker visas are allowed family reunification.
Are visa holders always subject to the social security regulations of their country of origin?
No. In the absence of bilateral agreements between Italy and the country of origin, holders of digital nomad or remote worker visas are subject to the social security and insurance regulations provided for by the Italian law.
