Skip to content The Italian Ministry of Health confirmed the issuing of the European Green Pass in Italy also to those who got vaccinated abroad. Moreover, with the new notifcation of September 23, 2021, conditions of equivalency between vaccines used abroad and in Italy were cleared.
Equivalency of anti-COVID vaccines used abroad
The following are the vaccines recognized as valid as those approved in Italy for the Strategic National Plan against the SARS-CoV-2 infections:
- Vaccines for which the holder of the commercial authorization is the same as in the European Union (see Annex 1);
- Covishield (Serum Institute of India), licensed from AstraZeneca;
- R-CoVI (R-Pharm), licensed from AstraZeneca;
- Covid-19 vaccine-recombinant (Fiocruz), licensed from AstraZeneca.
Recipients
It is also stated that these vaccines are considered valid in order to issue the COVID-19 green certificate to:
- Italian citizens (also residents abroad) and their relatives living with them;

Foreign citizens living in Italy for work or study activities, regardless of their subscription to the national healthcare system (SSN).
How to get the green pass in Italy
To get the green pass in Italy, it is necessary to fall within one of the following cases:
- Received the first dose of vaccine (or the full single-dose) since at least 15 days of those authorized by EMA or the abovementioned ones;
- Completed vaccination course;
- Negative result to a molecular/antigen test within no more than 48 hours;
- Full recovery from COVID-19 during the 6 previous months.
