New minimum wage rates effective from January 2027
On 15 September 2026, the Polish Government published a regulation in the Official Gazette (Dziennik Ustaw) concerning the national minimum wage. From 1 January 2027, the minimum monthly salary will be 4,950 zł gross (approximately € 1,128.90). Accordingly, the minimum hourly rate will be 32.30 zł (approximately € 7.37).
Currently, the minimum wage stands at PLN 4,806 gross and the minimum hourly rate at PLN 31.40 gross. Therefore, the Council of Ministers’ Regulation will establish an increase of approximately 3%.
Negotiations between social partners
The updated salary rates were the subject of negotiation and disagreement during the Social Dialogue Council (Rada Dialogu Społecznego – RDS). This body provides a forum for dialogue and cooperation between employees, employers and the central government of Poland. On the one hand, trade unions proposed a minimum wage of at least PLN 5,200 (approximately € 1,185.91). On the other hand, the employers’ representatives preferred not to exceed the rate proposed by the Government. Thus, the ultimate decision on wages was taken by the Council of Ministers on September 15th.
Minimum wage growth over the last decade
Over the past 10 years, Poland’s minimum wage has risen by 3,056 PLN (ca. € 697). In 2015, in fact, it was set at 1,750 PLN (ca. € 399).
The most significant increases were implemented in both 2023 and 2024, when the minimum salary was raised twice each year. This was caused by statutory provisions establishing that the salary needs to be adjusted twice in a year (on 1 January and 1 July) should the forecast overall consumer price index for the following year be at least 105%.
Conclusions
The upcoming salary increase should be carefully considered by employers operating in Poland and companies posting workers to the country. Specifically, businesses ought to review their payroll arrangements and remuneration policies to ensure compliance with the new rates.
