The second annual adjustment to the statutory minimum wage in the Netherlands will take effect on 1 July 2026, under the Dutch government’s review system.

Since 1 January 2024, the Netherlands has applied a statutory hourly minimum wage, which is reviewed on 1 January and 1 July of each year, in accordance with the adjustment mechanism established by law.

New Hourly Rates

As of 1 July 2026, the statutory minimum wage for employees aged 21 and over will increase from €14.71 to €14.99 gross per hour.

This second annual increase will result in an average 1.23% rise in the remuneration of employees earning the statutory minimum wage compared with the first half of the year.

Part-time employees are expected to benefit from the highest percentage increases, with estimated pay rises of up to 1.86%. In particular:

  • Employees working 20 hours per week can expect to receive an estimated increase of approximately €23.27 net per month.
  • Employees working 36 hours per week can expect to receive an estimated increase of approximately €28.59 net per month.
  • Employees working 38 hours per week can expect to receive an estimated increase of approximately €31.12 net per month.

For what concerns employees aged 15 to 20, the statutory youth minimum wage will continue to apply. The youth minimum wage consists of age-based rates that increase progressively as employees get older.

The new statutory hourly youth minimum wage rates, effective from 1 July 2026, are shown below.
