When to register your residence in Italy

Processing time

EU nationals staying in Italy for more than 90 days must register their residence with the local Municipality. The residence registration is required also for non-EU nationals who relocate to Italy.

Phase 2: Submission of the Residence Registration Form to the Competent Municipality (1–2 days)
Phase 3: Residence Registration Approval (up to 45 days from the date of submission, following a visit by a municipal officer to the declared address)
