Usually, for registration in Italy, what matters is where the car was manufactured and not what license plate it has; therefore, a car manufactured in a non-EU country with an EU license plate is usually considered non-EU. However, we will check with the specialized car agency to verify how your car will be considered in your specific case.
Are there any simplifications in the registration procedure for Italian citizens who move to Italy?
Yes, the simplification in force is that if an Italian citizen moves to Italy from abroad and owns a non-EU car, it will be possible to register their car in Italy. In fact, this is one of the cases in which a non-EU car can be registered in Italy.
