On 19 May 2026, Thailand’s Cabinet approved a revision of the country’s visa exemption and Visa on Arrival schemes.

The new measures will revoke the current 60-day visa exemption scheme available to nationals of 93 countries and territories. The 30-day visa exemption scheme for tourism purposes will also be revised, with the number of eligible countries and territories reduced from 57 to 54. In addition, Thailand will introduce a new 15-day visa exemption scheme for three countries or territories.

The Visa on Arrival scheme will also be amended, reducing the number of eligible countries and territories from 31 to four.

The revised rules will enter into force 15 days after publication of the relevant Ministry of Interior announcements in the Royal Gazette. Until then, the current entry conditions remain applicable.

Foreign nationals planning to travel to Thailand should verify the entry requirements applicable to their nationality before departure.
