With a note of June 24, 2025, the Embassy of Italy announced the temporary suspension of its services. This was an essential precautionary measure in the face of the political and military situation.
Suspension of consular services
On June 24, 2025, the Embassy of Italy announced the temporary suspension of public access. This is ta consequence of the intensification of tensions in the country and the deterioration of security conditions for citizens.
In fact, the Embassy wants to protect the safety of the consular staff and of Italian and Iranian citizens. At the same time, they are aware this may cause inconveniences in the provision of some services.
Therefore, the consular staff looks forward to a gradual resumption of consular and visa services, once security conditions allow. Specifically, they will make special attention to visa applications submitted by Iranian students and already accepted by the Embassy.
Finally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation is considering possible exceptional measures to reduce the impact caused by the security measures taken.
Restrictions on entry to Iran
Regarding entry into Iran, because of the ongoing military situation, the authorities closed Iran’s airspace. As a consequence, they discourage travel to Iran.
Italians already present in Iran should stay informed and to follow any specific instructions from local authorities.
Finally, those already present in the country can leave it independently, by land, across the borders with neighboring countries. These include Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Turkey. In doing that, they should follow the instructions provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
