Summary

Canada’s Express Entry scoring changes take effect on 3 November 2026, prioritising Canadian work experience and qualifying job offers. Candidates should review their profiles before implementation.

The new rules place greater emphasis on Canadian work experience and certain job offers. Candidates should review their profiles before implementation.

Express Entry manages applications under several Canadian immigration programmes leading to permanent residence. Candidates receive a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, which helps determine who receives an invitation to apply.

From 3 November 2026, a new Labour Market Integration factor will compare the points available for Canadian work experience with those available for a qualifying job offer. Candidates eligible under both options will receive the higher score; the two components will not be combined.

Eligibility for high-wage occupation points depends on the Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC) and occupational median wages. A high individual salary alone does not establish eligibility.

What candidates should do

Review occupational codes, work experience and job offer information before 3 November. Recalculation of existing profiles may take up to two weeks, with invitation rounds paused during that period. Additional points do not guarantee an invitation to apply.
