The United States announced the reintroduction of the restrictions on entry for those coming from Schengen Countries, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, Brazil and South Africa.
With the Presidential Proclamation of January 25, 2021, the new President Biden announced the reintroduction of the restrictions on entry to the United States for those who, within the 14 previous days, transited through one of the following countries: Schengen Area Countries, the UK, the Republic of Ireland and Brazil. South Africa is also added to the list. The Proclamation enters into force from 12:01 a.m. EST of January 26, 2021 and will remain active until further notice.
The restriction on entry remains valid also for those who, within the 14 previous days the entry to the US, transited through the People’s Republic of China and the Islamic Republic of Islam. Moreover, it is still active the order of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of January 12, which makes it mandatory to undergo a swab test in order to board for the United States (with this regard, please refer to the Notification of Arletti&Parners Office of January 19, 2021).
Exemptions from the restrictions on entry
The abovementioned prohibitions on entry do not apply to who:
(i) permanent residents of the United States;
(ii) United States citizens;
(iii) spouse of citizens as in (i) and (ii);
(iv) parents or tutors of citizens as in (i) and (ii), provided that the latter are under 21 years of age and are not married;
(v) brothers of citizens as in (i) and (ii), provided that the latter are under 21 years of age and are not married;
(vi) biological or adopted children as in (i) and (ii), or are about to be adopted by citizens as in (i) and (ii);
(vii) travel under invitation of the United States Government, for the purpose of containing or mitigating the virus;
(viii) travel with visa of type C-1, D, o C-1/D as travelling personnel or crew members;
(ix) (A) holders of the following visa: A-1, A-2, C-2, C-3 (as government official or close relative of a government official), E-1 (as employee of TECRO or TECO or closed relatives), G-1, G-2, G-3, G-4, NATO-1, NATO-4, NATO-6
(ix) (B) travel in accordance with section 11 of the “United Nations Headquarters Agreement“;
(x) members of the United States armed forces or closed relatives:
(xi) received the permission of entry from the US Government;
(xii) represent national interest for the country.
