As of June 17, 2022, all COVID-19 restrictions for travellers entering Egypt were rescinded. This comes on the back of Egypt’s successful vaccination plan which allowed tourism to open up and flights to resume. Notwithstanding most regulations have been suspended, in case of planning to enter Egypt for business trips, it should be necessary to be informed about the regulations in force which may be introduced for instance by airline companies.

1. Entry requirements in Egypt and transit conditions
Currently, all travelers can enter Egypt freely and no restrictions have been implemented on the transit of tourists.
2. COVID-19 Test Regulations in Egypt
Travellers are no longer required to take a COVID-19 test to enter Egypt. Nevertheless, in case of need, Covid-19 testing is available at numerous private testing centres, as well as the Central Public Health Lab. The average costs of tests in the main tourist cities are $30 (726,35 EGP – 28,92€) for a PCR and $9,15 (225 EGP- 8,68€) for an Antigen Rapid test.
It is noted that the payment for COVID-19 testing is charged to the individual and is not guaranteed by the Government of Egypt.
3. What to do in case of positive Covid test in Egypt
In case of positive Covid-19 test in Egypt, it is necessary to undergo an isolation period of 14 days.
4. Face masks and social distancing
The use of the face mask is mandatory in closed public spaces. It is noted that individuals who fail to comply with precautionary measures may be subject to an immediate fine or legal proceeding.
